Pat Legg (Lower Strings) has set up a degree course which included study of Kodaly, Dalcroze Eurhythmics, Alexander Technique and Teaching Skills. She was also a frequent lecturer on Music Education and String teaching at the Northern Royal College of Music and Guildhall. We do not get paid to play in the orchestra. Auditions will be held between 17:00 & 19:00 on 9 February 2012 or another time can be arranged if this time does not suit someone. Click on logo for more information and applications lecturesCape Town: Beethoven lectures![]() Beethoven : Immortal and BelovedPresented by Dr Barry Smith, organist, conductor and musicologist, and Rodney Trudgeon, broadcaster, Fine Music Radio. The image of Beethoven as a colossus, astride the Classical and Romantic movements, underscores the magnificence of his musical oeuvre. This course will focus on Beethoven the man as well as the range and variety of his work.The first session will begin with an exploration of his life (1770–1827), drawing on his letters and on pieces of his music referred to in the letters. The second session will discuss his piano and vocal music, and will include a performance of his song cycle An die ferne geliebte. The focus will then turn to Beethoven’s instrumental music including his violin and violoncello sonatas. His symphonies and concerti will be highlighted in the following session and will include piano performances of a Liszt transcription. The course will conclude with performances of his chamber music, with a clarinet trio and a string quartet. LECTURE-PERFORMANCES
