Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 9:00am, Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 14:00 - St. John's CollegeSt David Road, Houghton, Johannesburg, Gauteng St John's College, in partnership with ESTA and CASIO has persuaded two brilliant international string educators, to come to Johannesburg, South Africa in order to work with teachers and players. Simon Cartledge (Upper Strings) currently has a thriving teaching practice in Cambridge, which includes regular youth orchestra coaching and an annual visit to Poland to teach on the Zenon Brzewski International Music Course. Pat Legg (Lower Strings) has set up a degree course which included study of Kodaly, Dalcroze Eurhythmics, Alexander Technique and Teaching Skills. She was also a frequent lecturer on Music Education and String teaching at the Northern Royal College of Music and Guildhall. Wakkerstroom: Wakkerstroom Music Festival 2012
3 March 2012 at 19:00 and 4 March 2012 at 19:00The festival will present recitals, chamber music concerts, choirs and orchestras, as well as the opera company Grand Amici.
Zanta Hofmeyr (violin) will be the special guest artist.
Some of the singers appearing will be Boikanyo from Opera Africa, soprano Michelle Corbin, mezzo soprano Linette van der Merwe and tenors Chris Mostert and Gareth Witten.
Pianists who will take part in the festival are Peter Cartwright, Jannie le Roux, Malcolm Nay and Olga Tsihelashvili.
Diane Coutts will take part as pianist and organist.
The Polina Burdukova Trio will also give a concert, as well as Trio Hemaney with Malcolm Nay, Helen Vosloo and Marian Lewin.

The Celli Family is a group of 12 professional international cellists who are based in southern Germany. The group was formed a few years ago under the direction of the cellist Prof. Hans Eric Deckert from Denmark, who studied with Pablo Casals and also worked extensively with the famous conductor Sergiu Celibidache..
They have performed all over Germany and Egypt, including a very successful tour through South Africa during September 2009. In March 2012 they visit South Africa again to present a number of concerts and workshops.
