I absolutely love this photo.
It is Adolph Hallis with Derek Schaefer.
Derek was a young Durban prodigy who was apparently quite outstanding but he was killed in the Drakensberg while hiking as a young man just after leaving school. (± 1960 ). The photo came into my hands via my neighbour, Doris Schaefer, who was Derek's sister.
Somehow the picture captures the completely open and invigorating relationship between the two people - one young an one old, but both thoroughly enjoying the moment.
